Originally an air raid bunker in the 1940s the building is now a popular art gallery in berlin one of the most exciting locales for modern art by alice bucknel l january 9 2018 after being used.
Christian boros and his family now live in the penthouse atop the bunker. In 2003 the bunker was purchased and fully converted by christian boros for his private art collection. In the early 2000s art collectors christian and karen boros were searching for a home for their 700 piece collection of contemporary art. All spread over 80 rooms.
It is now a 3 000 m 2 exhibition space. Founded by art collector christian boros the collection has become immensely popular since it opened in 2008 and. The new presentation of the boros collection presents newly purchased and site specific works in combination with works from the 1990s and 2000. It contains groups of works by international artists from 1990 to the present.
Founded in 2007 the private collection has its own exhibition building in düsseldorf and to supplement the main düsseldorf location starting june 2016 a space has been open to the public in berlin.
